Photos from the Air

Here are my best pictures from our ariel photography assignment. The plane took us a tour of the Amherst, MA area. We were only in the air for 30 minutes. These were small four passenger planes we flew in. It was kind of like riding in a car in the sky!

Portraits

We shot a lighting assignment last week. This is one of the students I worked with.

This is the portrait Tina and I made while she was visiting.

This week (if good weather) we will be shooting from airplanes. Three or four students will fly at one time. This should make for an interesting week. It has been snowing here most of the day. This is the first real snow I have seen. Hopefully it will not get bad.

Black Friday

Well, Thanksgiving is over and Christmas just around the corner. I celebrated Thanksgiving with a group of friends. We shared lunch and played cards until late in the evening. I missed being at home with my family. This was the first time in my life that I have not been with them for this holiday. But I am thankful for the friends who I have met here. They are a great group of people. Just like my friends at home!

I will be at the school for the next few days. I have a couple of assignments due at the end of the week and I need to get them finished.

(pictures are my first attempt at macro shots)

Birthday

Last Sunday was my 45th Birthday.
Tina was here to celebrate with me during
the day. Rod drove in later in the evening.
The "girls" I hang out with decorated my
back stairs. I was totally surprised when I
woke to go to church and the hallway was
decorated! We had a cupcake party after
lunch.
School was a little less stressful last week. We are working with design
programs and learning to design our own 6x9 promo cards. Also we are
working on a CD insert. I give this school credit, I will know a bit of everything when I leave here.
I do miss everyone back home. I'll see all of you at Christmas break.

Self Portrait

This is my self portrait! I think the picture says is all!

Everyone enjoy!

Phase One Nov 7th 2008

The first phase is over! I have made it so far! I can hardly believe that one quarter of this program is already over. This first milestone was unbelievable. But this will be nothing compared to the final phase review at the end of the year.

My sister has been visiting for a week now. She got talked into being my model for part of my assignment. Going to shoot in the portrait studio for a few hours tomorrow so I can practice. So I guess she is not done with her modeling career yet!
(This picture of Tina was my outdoor portrait and the picture of the jacks is my shot to show motion.)

New York City

I rode the train for the first time on Sunday. We drove a couple of hours then took the train into NY. We walked around all day and had a great time. Upon arriving at Grand Central Station, a crew was filming "Friday Night Lights" and we got to walk through the set as the cameras were rolling. Who knows, we might be on TV?

We ate lunch at Grey's Papaya (hot dog place) and dinner at The Dumpling House.

I have been blessed to meet some wonderful people who have become my friends.

Week Five

We are now into week five. Mondays appear to be information overload day. We receive a tremendous amount of technical info all at once. We will apply this later in the week.

This is a picture of the court room in Northampton that we had access to. One of the employees allowed four of us to shoot in there last week. Yesterday, Mel Gibson was going to start filming a new movie in this same court room.

Festival of The Hills

Today I went to a local festival. This apparently was a tipical New England festival. There was food, crafts, duck race and skillet tossing. Yes, that's what it was! An event where the contestants throw a iron skillet. Whoever throws the longest distance wins! Here are a few of the photos I took today.

Mineral Rd.

Today I went back to Mineral Rd. for a few hours of shooting. I went there during the week to work on an assignment. There are two bridges that cross the river there. This is a picture of the river and one of the bridge. And a picture of Christina. She is the girl who I share the apartment with. I have just finished the first month here and only nine more to go! The school work is hard and everything moves really fast. But they only have ten months to teach us everything.
